Perspective

In light of the tragedy that has befallen Haiti, I would like to say how grateful I am for my healthy children, food to put on the table, a husband who works hard for everything we have, and the roof over my head. Human tragedy puts everything into perspective. All the bad/hard stuff in my life just took on a trivial glow.

So, as you go about your day, remember how lucky you are to be you. Remember that a query rejection, or writers block, or the diet that seems so stinking hard to follow might get you down. But you'll be back up before the sun sets.

My heart is with the people of Haiti today. (And so is Suzette's.)

Thank you for this post. A member of our church is at the Haiti Mercy Mission right now, visiting. We sponsor a girl from that same orphanage. Last night was a scary time, but we heard this morning that the orphanage was unharmed. Such a relief!

Well said! Thank you for the reminder to review our blessings. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to force us to look inward.

Thanks Bethany. I was just about to whine about my toothache and how I have to find a new dentist. (Now what to write about?) Thanks for the change of thought. :)

Sadly, it is tragic events such as this that puts life into perspective.

A worthy post to bring us all down to earth.

I've had the same thoughts today. Every time I see a picture of the suffering I ache for the people there, but I'm also so grateful that my family is well and safe. I do hope the recovery effort goes well and they get the things they need soon.

It's such a horrific scene whenever you turn on the news. Those poor people. I stopped at the Red Cross on my way home today to donate. Hopefully my little part will help bring some relief.

You're right. After that, the rejections mean nothing. At least I still have a home and my family.

Thank you for this post, Bethany. It's very hard here. So many members of the church I go to are Haitian and have family there. (like 90% of the branch.) They still don't know if their family members are safe or not. Please, keep them in your prayers!

You're right. We are blessed. If ever there was a time for prayer it is now. The people of God are needed like never before to storm the altar of the Most High God.

Jesus we need a healing hand. Help us to trust you even when we cannot trace you.
