What did you read in 2009 that will leave a lasting impression in years to come? Because those are the books I want to put on my
TO READ IN 2010 list.

uh......Okay, pretty much just those.
Apart from Catching Fire and Shiver, I read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. OH MY GOSH! I could only read a few pages at a time, but I think about it daily.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is among the best I've ever read. Wonderful too.
Liar, by Justine Larbalestier. I wouldn't say it was one of my favorites, but it's extremely well written and made me think. A lot.

Pretty much most of Sarah Dessen's books, especially LOCK AND KEY, and 13 REASONS WHY by Jay Asher..
The one's that have had the greatest impact are those by Lurlene McDaniel, especially BREATHLESS. It examines dying with dignity, assisted suicide, and DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate) in a way that left me questioning my own beliefs. (Yes, it is YA). Hmmm. I would love to see an interview with her on the QT blog. ;-)
Hunger Games for sure!
First of all, I'm going to start off by saying: The Hunger Games and Catching Fire should be required reads. For everyone! They are AWESOME!

As for my TBR in 2010...it is way too long! My current manuscript has kept me so busy that my 2009 TBR is leaking into 2010...yikes!
Unfortunately, I was unimpressed by many of the books I chose this year, except for one. I was pleasantly surprised by Stephen King's On Writing

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. Yeah, I read it for the first time in 2009.
Opal: A Life of Enchantment, Mystery, and Madness, Graceling, The Shadow of the Wind, The Secret History, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime
"The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown
and "On Writing" by Stephen King.
Those are probably the two that left the biggest impression on me in 2009.

Also, I don't like cheesy romance and I bought this book not knowing that the Author was a "romance" writer with hard body book cover and all but...big but...I really loved this book: Everlasting by Kathleen Woodwiss LIke I said, not typically what I would pick-up but for five bucks I gave it a whirl and it just made me melt.
The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Claire if you haven't already (City of Bones, Ashes, Glass)
