THE List

After our last post, Suz and I know what you've been reading. But here's the burning question.
What did you read in 2009 that will leave a lasting impression in years to come? Because those are the books I want to put on my
TO READ IN 2010 list.

In all fairness, here are some of mine:

1. Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson
2. How to Take the Ex Out of Ex-Boyfriend by Janette Rallison
3. The Hunger Games and Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
4. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

So there you have it. Now it's your turn to dish. Go ahead... blast my socks off with your plethora of answers. And I promise you. I. WILL. READ.!

Apart from Catching Fire and Shiver, I read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. OH MY GOSH! I could only read a few pages at a time, but I think about it daily.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society is among the best I've ever read. Wonderful too.
Liar, by Justine Larbalestier. I wouldn't say it was one of my favorites, but it's extremely well written and made me think. A lot.

Awwww... thanks Jacoby! I'm honored that my book made the list. Will definitely have to read The Road.

Here's my list:

The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak

That's all that comes to mind, but I will add more if I think of any.

Pretty much most of Sarah Dessen's books, especially LOCK AND KEY, and 13 REASONS WHY by Jay Asher..

The one's that have had the greatest impact are those by Lurlene McDaniel, especially BREATHLESS. It examines dying with dignity, assisted suicide, and DNRs (Do Not Resuscitate) in a way that left me questioning my own beliefs. (Yes, it is YA). Hmmm. I would love to see an interview with her on the QT blog. ;-)

Hunger Games for sure!

First of all, I'm going to start off by saying: The Hunger Games and Catching Fire should be required reads. For everyone! They are AWESOME!

Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick &
Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl are also wonderful books! They both should be must reads too!

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
All of the books by Rachel Vincent

As for my TBR in 2010...it is way too long! My current manuscript has kept me so busy that my 2009 TBR is leaking into 2010...yikes!

Unfortunately, I was unimpressed by many of the books I chose this year, except for one. I was pleasantly surprised by Stephen King's On Writing

Good choice Suzette!

Chris Lynch's INEXCUSABLE, which an editor recommended to me for it's unreliable narrator.

Also, David Levithan's LOVE IS THE HIGHER LAW.

All about the skinny boy book, I guess.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan for sure!

Also, I don't like cheesy romance and I bought this book not knowing that the Author was a "romance" writer with hard body book cover and all but...big but...I really loved this book: Everlasting by Kathleen Woodwiss LIke I said, not typically what I would pick-up but for five bucks I gave it a whirl and it just made me melt.

The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Claire if you haven't already (City of Bones, Ashes, Glass)

I've picked up a few must haves from this post for myself so thanks!
