New Extremes

I have heard of all sorts of crazy things writers do in an attempt to finish their manuscripts. Things like:

  • Don't put on makeup, don't brush your hair, and wear a robe all day so that you can't go out of your house (Erm . . . that would me be. Downside is when someone knocks on the door and you answer it).
  • Shave half of your head so that you look too horrible to be seen in public until the hair grows out. Spend housebound time writing.
  • Send your modem to school with your kids (before wireless) so that you can't get online for eight hours a day.
  • Handcuff yourself to your desk and send the key to work with your husband.
What extremes do you go to?

(And that is not me in the photo)

I take away things that I love until I finish a project.

These are hilarious! I dint do anything extreem, which is probably why I haven't edited my book yet...

Maybe I'll get my hubby's hopes up by asking him to pick up some handcuffs ...?

Well, I definitely admire these people for their ethusiasm. I don't have any extremes, myself. But if I'm haunted by the story until I finish it, so really I still have no choice.

No extremes here, but I wouldn't put it past myself to simply sit down in front of my computer (or outside with pen and paper) and force myself to complete a particular something, no matter how long it takes.

Am I the only one that thinks handcuffs are a really stupid idea? Bathroom breaks? House fire? Food?

Yikes!! I was so relieved when I realized the photo wasn't you!! :)

I tend to just muddle on through and do what I can!

Hi, Bethany and Suz...it was so fun seeing you at Elana's launch. I am excited for SHIFTING and think it's cool we share the same book birthday.

now..for extremes? I have been known to put signs on my office door that say things like "do not knock unless there is blood flowing". it keeps the kiddos at bay :)

Thank goodness it's not you!

If I go to too many extremes, my kid's teachers start complaining that my children need haircuts and new clothes.

Gotta go for the moderation solution.

Deny myself ice cream. If I could actually do it!

I can't say I go to extremes, either. (Although there's a one minute facebook game I USED to play (cough*zuma*cough) whenever I was stuck. But then I kept getting stuck a lot... I banned the game from my computer.) I guess having goals NOT met is plenty motivation.

Hi, listen, I'm pretty new on this blogosphere and Internet thing, so I don't know if there's a sort of "subscription" method that I can use in order to receive notifications of your new entries...? Thing is I enjoy reading your blog a lot and I'd like to be up to date with your posts!
